Greece U21 defeats Georgia 3-0 in Euro U21 qualifiers
The Greece U21 national football team secured a decisive 3-0 away victory against Georgia in Tbilisi during the 10th matchday of the Euro U21 2027 qualifiers. Goals were scored by Noah Allen in the 6th minute, Theofanis Bakoulas in the 13th minute, and Stavros Pnemunidis in the 65th minute.
With this win, Greece has reached 21 points in eight matches, placing them in a tie for first place in Group 6 with Germany. However, Germany holds the advantage in head-to-head tiebreakers. Greece has mathematically secured at least a position in the playoffs for the final tournament, which will be hosted by Albania and Serbia in 2027. The team also maintains a strong chance of qualifying directly as one of the best second-placed teams or by finishing first if Germany falters in their remaining matches.
Coach Giannis Taousianis expressed satisfaction with the team's performance and mentality, noting that the first step of the final stretch was successful. Despite the victory, the team faced setbacks as Sotiris Kontouris and Thanasis Koutsogoulas left the match due to injuries.
