Eurostat and ELSTAT reported that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Greece was 8% in June 2026, with 381,769 people registered as unemployed. Compared with June 2025, the number of unemployed fell by 58,363 (13.3%), while it rose by 12,345 (3.3%) relative to May 2026.

Female unemployment stood at 10.4% (down from 11.2% a year earlier) and male unemployment at 6% (down from 7.6%). Among 15‑ to 24‑year‑olds, unemployment jumped to 19.5%, up from 18.6% in June 2025 and from 15.9% in May 2026. The total employed rose to 4,389,230, an increase of 53,413 versus June 2025 and 16,465 versus May 2026. Persons not in the labour force (under 75, neither working nor seeking work) numbered 2,941,499, down 36,988 from June 2025 and 33,042 from May 2026. The unemployment rate remains above the euro‑area average, highlighting ongoing challenges in the Greek labour market.
