Greece unveils €20 billion New Common Agricultural Policy for 2028‑2034
The Greek government announced the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) framework for 2028‑2034, targeting more than €20 billion in funding. The plan seeks to address climate change, rising production costs, competitiveness, and the renewal of rural labour by introducing a modern Integrated Management and Control System, digital tools, data cross‑checking and preventive audits. It emphasizes strategic, consistent, and long‑term support rather than fragmented measures, aiming to secure food security and boost the sector’s role in the European context.
Deputy Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Athanasios Kavvadias visited Thesprotia, meeting producers, aquaculture units and local chambers. He reiterated the ministry’s goal to back every productive activity that creates income and jobs in the Greek periphery, while mourning recent fire‑related deaths and a helicopter crash. Kavvadias highlighted the need to increase the added value of Greek products through quality, certification, standardisation, processing and strong commercial branding to strengthen export presence.
