Greece updates Model and Experimental School regulations

The Greek Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Sofia Zacharaki, has issued new decisions regarding the administration and admissions of Model and Experimental Schools.

Under the new regulations, the application period for student admissions can now begin as early as the first week of January and run through the last week of March. The decision also introduces new protocols for filling vacancies and managing International Baccalaureate (IB) departments. Additionally, the rules address specific circumstances for applicants, such as siblings already enrolled in the same or connected schools, twins or triplets, and cases where a parent or guardian serves at the specific school.

Furthermore, amendments have been made to subject assignments for EAE Middle Schools and High Schools. These changes specifically affect the assignment of Music (Culture and Activities) in Middle Schools and History in the third grade of High Schools, ensuring these subjects are assigned to the appropriate specialized teaching categories. These updates are set to take effect starting from the 2026-2027 school year.
