Greece urges universities to pursue academic cooperation with Israel
The Greek Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports has issued a call to national universities to establish academic and scientific research collaborations with Israeli counterparts. This move follows an invitation from the Israeli Ministry of Regional Cooperation.
As part of the ‘Connective’ initiative, which aims to expand cooperation toward the Eastern Mediterranean, the program includes a budget of approximately 6.5 million shekels (about 2 million euros). The initiative is designed to support higher education institutions through joint studies, conferences, workshops, student scholarships, and academic exchange programs.
The cooperation is framed within a broader regional strategy that includes Greece and Cyprus, potentially linking to projects such as the undersea cable intended to connect Greece, Cyprus, and Israel for electricity transmission.
