Greece vows to respond to Turkish provocations

Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Tasos Hatzivasileiou stated that Greece will not leave any Turkish provocation unanswered. In a televised interview, he defended the government's approach to relations with Turkey, arguing that the pursuit of 'calm waters' has served as a strategic tool to allow Greece to strengthen its economy and modernize its military.

Hatzivasileiou highlighted that Greece has enhanced its deterrent power through the acquisition of Rafale fighter jets and progress toward obtaining F-35s. He addressed recent Turkish activities in the Eastern Mediterranean, specifically mentioning a Turkish research vessel and the announcement of Turkish maritime parks, which he characterized as illegal because they extend into international waters and the Greek continental shelf.

The Deputy Minister challenged political opposition to clarify if they are advocating for war or conflict, asserting that the country has achieved significant economic and defense fortification over the last seven years.
