Greece: Wage increments to impact salaries starting in 2027

The reactivation of the triennial wage increment mechanism in Greece is expected to result in visible salary increases for certain workers starting in 2027. This mechanism, which had been frozen for nearly 12 years, was reactivated on January 1, 2024.

Workers who did not have recognized seniority prior to the freeze and began accumulating it on January 1, 2024, will complete their first three-year period in 2027. For those earning the minimum wage, each completed three-year period entitles them to a 10% increase. A maximum of three such increments can be recognized, potentially leading to a total increase of up to 30%.

The actual impact will depend on the minimum wage level in 2027. While the current minimum wage is 920 euros, government planning suggests a potential increase to 950 euros by April 2027. If the minimum wage reaches 950 euros, a worker with one completed triennium would receive 1,045 euros gross. Final decisions regarding wage levels will be based on economic indicators such as inflation and growth.
