Meteorologists warn that the heat wave could persist through the end of August and potentially into the first days of September. In Crete, extreme temperature fluctuations were observed, with a nearly 29°C difference recorded between coastal and mountainous areas within a few hours.

Authorities have warned of an increased risk of forest fires due to high temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds. In Athens, air-conditioned halls have been made available to the public, and water stations have been established for animals to mitigate the impact of the heat.
