Greece weather: Severe storms and orange warnings issued

Greece is experiencing severe weather conditions driven by two waves of autumn storms. The National Meteorological Service (EMY) has issued orange warnings for heavy rain, storms, and potential hail, specifically targeting Thessaly, the Sporades, and Evia through Wednesday morning.

Significant rainfall has already been recorded, with the Kymi station in Evia measuring 115.6 mm. In Patras, heavy storms caused flooding that reached the Agios Andreas hospital. Other regions, including Chalkidiki, Arcadia, and Achaia, have also reported high precipitation levels.

Meteorologists predict a temporary improvement in weather conditions on Thursday, followed by a new wave of intense weather starting Friday. This upcoming system is expected to impact western and northwestern Greece, eventually moving toward the Peloponnese and central/western Macedonia over the weekend.
