Larissa Court sentences woman to prison for creating 203 fake profiles
The Larissa Court of Appeals has sentenced a 38-year-old woman from Patra to prison for creating 203 fake social media profiles to harass and defame her former partner, a 37-year-old Air Force pilot from Volos.
The court upheld a previous ruling of 48 months in prison for violation of personal data and online defamation. In a rare judicial move for such offenses, the court rejected all requests for leniency or the conversion of the sentence into a fine, ordering the immediate serving of 12 months of actual imprisonment. The defendant, who failed to appear in court, is currently being sought by authorities.
The harassment began in September 2018 following a brief relationship. After the pilot ended the relationship, the woman allegedly engaged in a years-long campaign of digital stalking, using his name, photos, and personal details to post abusive and false content. She also targeted his friends, family, and colleagues through the numerous fraudulent accounts.
