Greece's €150 child allowance to be paid by end of August

The Greek government’s emergency child allowance of €150 per child will be paid in a second round that must be completed by 31 August. The payment covers families with children born between 1 January 2025 and 31 July 2026 and is automatic – no new application is required.

To receive the benefit, the child must be listed as a dependent in the 2025 tax return, the child’s AMKA must be correctly recorded, and the parent must have a valid IBAN on file with the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE). For children born in 2025 the declaration must already be in the tax return; for those born in 2026 parents must obtain a tax identification number (AFM) and submit the final birth certificate by 10 August.

The allowance amount scales with the number of children (e.g., €150 for one child, €300 for two, €450 for three, etc.). Income thresholds apply: for married couples €40,000 for one child, €45,000 for two, €50,000 for three, plus €5,000 for each additional child; lower limits apply to single‑parent families.
