Greece's camping equipment sales jump 48% as demand surges
Sales of camping gear in Greece rose 48% and overall revenue grew 62% over the 2023‑2025 period, according to marketplace data from Skroutz. The surge is strongest in July, the month with the highest purchasing activity. In the summer of 2024, sales increased 33% versus 2023, and the upward trend continued into 2025 with a further 6% rise. Category‑specific growth includes tents up 31% in 2024, camping lighting up 15% and portable fridges up 14% in 2025, while inflatable sleeping pads grew 6% the same year. Average order value for tent purchases rose from €102 in 2025 to €113 by June 2026; similar modest gains were seen for sleeping pads and lighting. Sales also show steady off‑season growth, with a 24% increase from January‑May 2025 over the previous year and a further 13% rise into 2026. Online searches for “camping” were 193% higher by June 2026 compared with the whole of 2025.
