The Extrajudicial Mechanism for debt settlement in Greece has recorded a milestone. By the end of July, 66,578 settlements were completed, covering initial debts of €20.19 billion. The total amount of debt written‑off reached €6.53 billion, with an average cut of 13.5 % for public debts and 28.4 % for financial creditors; 48.3 % of the financial‑sector settlements achieved a reduction greater than 30 %.

In July alone, 2,164 new successful settlements were concluded, amounting to €511 million. The approval rate of applications has remained around 80 % after the introduction of mandatory creditor participation. Social protection measures continued, with 271 settlements for vulnerable borrowers, including 26 for persons with disabilities, and 603 foreclosures postponed through an advance‑payment measure.

Four major servicers—Intrum, Cepal, DoValue and Qquant—recorded €356 million in bilateral settlements for 4,239 borrowers in June, mainly mortgage and micro‑enterprise loans. From 18 July, the AADE platform launched a 72‑installment scheme for overdue public debts, accepting electronic applications until 31 December 2026.
