Eurobank reports Greek inflation easing to 3.9% in June

Eurobank’s latest "7 Days Economy" report shows Greece’s annual consumer price inflation fell to 3.9% in June, down from 4.9% in May. The slowdown is attributed mainly to lower international oil prices.

Core price pressures remain high, especially in housing, water, electricity, natural gas and other fuels where inflation stayed at 10.5%. However, categories such as transport and hospitality helped ease the overall index: transport inflation dropped to 4.8% in June from 7.7% in May, and the restaurant‑café‑hotel sector fell to 6.4% from 9.1%.

Industrial production showed a rebound, with the season‑adjusted index rising 1.9% in May versus April and a 4.3% year‑over‑year increase. The trade deficit narrowed for the third consecutive month, reflecting a modest improvement in the balance of payments. Eurobank cautions that private consumption and exports still face uncertainty from geopolitical developments and energy price volatility.
