Greece's Mitsotakis outlines new multi‑year fiscal plan

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis chaired a meeting of Greece's Government Economic Policy Council to present the government's economic agenda. He stressed that the economy’s positive trajectory will translate into higher incomes for citizens and highlighted the administration’s focus on growth, wealth creation and protection of the most vulnerable.

The council discussed a new multi‑year fiscal framework for 2028‑2034, currently being negotiated with EU member states. Greece will prioritize preserving the Common Agricultural Policy and Cohesion Policy while seeking budgetary space for social benefits and tax cuts. Infrastructure plans for roads, energy, telecommunications and rail networks were also on the agenda.

Mitsotakis reiterated that parliamentary elections are scheduled for 2027 and used the occasion to criticize political rival Antonis Samaras, who is preparing to launch a new party. The government aims to continue its policy agenda ahead of the election cycle.
