Greek tax filing deadline ends July 24, 2026 with no extension

The Ministry of Finance confirmed that the deadline for filing personal income‑tax returns in Greece expires today, 24 July 2026, and no further extension will be granted. Taxpayers are urged to submit their returns by the end of the day to avoid penalties that can reach up to 50 % of the unpaid tax and fines ranging from €100 to €500, depending on the type of return and the taxpayer’s status.

The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) reported a record‑high early‑submission rate for the 2025 tax year: 6 737 763 individual returns were filed on time, 31 672 more than the previous year, covering 8 954 982 taxpayers. Corporate returns also rose, with 385 515 on‑time filings, an increase of almost 23 000. Over 603 106 amendment filings were processed, and 1 357 222 pre‑assessment returns were completed. The AADE director Giorgos Pitsilis thanked citizens and accountants for meeting the deadline and highlighted the smoother operation compared with prior years.
