Greece's tourism surge drives 48% jump in camping gear sales and higher short‑term rental occupancy

E‑commerce platform Skroutz reports that sales of camping‑related products in Greece rose 48% between 2023 and 2025, with overall revenue increasing 62% over the same period. Growth was strongest in July and was driven by demand for hiking, mountaineering and music‑festival gear. The fastest‑growing categories included camping lighting (+15%), portable coolers (+14%) and inflatable sleeping mattresses (+6%).

A separate market study for the Short‑Term Accommodation Managers Association Greece shows that short‑term rental occupancy reached 41% year‑to‑date, up from 38.2% in the same period of 2025. The average booking window extended to 19.8 days and the average daily rate slipped slightly to €104, while revenue per available night rose 18.8%. Athens, Crete, Mykonos and Santorini led performance, with Crete and the Cyclades posting notable occupancy and rate gains. The data indicate a maturing tourism market with travelers planning further in advance and property managers adjusting pricing to capture stronger demand.
