Greek actor Aimilios Cheilakis reflects on his mother's funeral in candid interview

Actor Aimilios Cheilakis sat down with journalist George Prasino for the latest issue of OK! magazine, speaking alongside actress Athena Maximo. He recounted his teenage years and described his upbringing in central Athens before his family moved to Agia Paraskevi, noting his father’s early retirement from the Greek police.

Cheilakis discussed the recent death of his mother in January, admitting he has not yet accepted her passing. He revealed a striking detail from the funeral, saying, “With deep knowledge, I took the shovel and covered her feet so they would not get cold.” The interview also touched on his early involvement in a school theatre group, which sparked his passion for acting.

The actor emphasized that he remains in the “phase of absence,” still processing his loss, and used the anecdote to illustrate his personal coping method.
