Greek actress Efi Papatheodorou joins ELAS party in video with Alexis Tsipras
Actress Efi Papatheodorou, popularly known as “Theodoupola” from the TV series *Sto Para Pente*, was officially registered as a member of the new political formation ELAS (Greek Left Unity). The registration was filmed in a light‑hearted video with former prime minister Alexis Tsipras, who posted it on social media.
In the clip, Papatheodorou praised the party’s name as “perfect”, urged Tsipras to be “a little wilder”, and answered his question “What did Theodoupola do in ELAS?” with the joke “first I became a member and then did a ‘break’ (θραύση)”. The video quickly went viral, drawing widespread online commentary on the celebrity’s support for the party.
The event highlights ELAS’s strategy of using recognizable public figures to raise its profile ahead of upcoming political activities.
