Greek airports see 5% rise in passenger traffic in first half of 2026
Passenger traffic at Greek civil airports increased by 5% in the January‑June 2026 period, reaching 33,964,132 travelers compared with 32,358,875 in the same period of 2025. Aircraft movements (arrivals and departures, domestic and international) at the country’s 39 airports grew 4.6% over the same six‑month span.
Among the 24 airports managed by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority, traffic rose 6.2%, with total passengers recorded at 4,778,208 versus 4,497,485 a year earlier. In June alone, traffic at these airports rose 2.7%, and the state‑run Heraklion "Nikos Kazantzakis" Airport recorded a 2.1% increase, handling 1,425,494 passengers versus 1,396,137 in June 2025.
