Greek artists Mazonakis and Leivadakis featured in cultural news
Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis achieved unexpected success in Italy during the early 2000s. His 1996 song ‘Mou Leipeis’, composed by Nikos Terzis with lyrics by Antonis Pappas, was used in an Opel television advertisement campaign for the Corsa, Astra, and Zafira models in 2001. Despite the lyrics remaining in Greek, the melody and Mazonakis’s performance resonated with the Italian public. Universal Music Italia subsequently released the track in Italy under the English title ‘Missing You’.
In another cultural development, musician Kostas Leivadakis is performing a commemorative concert titled ‘Emis mazi den chanoume’ (Together We Do Not Lose) at the Papagou Open-Air Theater on September 25. The event marks 30 years of Leivadakis’s musical career and serves to support ‘Nosileia’, an organization providing free home-based palliative care for individuals with serious illnesses and financial hardships. The concert also celebrates 40 years of the ‘Thanasis Tsipinakis’ Chamber Orchestra of Patras.
