Fay Dimitriadou, Greek track champion, dies in Rhodes motorcycle accident
Greek track and field champion Fay Dimitriadou, 21, died following a motorcycle accident in Rhodes. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning on Megalou Konstantinou Street.
Dimitriadou was operating a motorcycle with a 27-year-old passenger when, under circumstances currently under investigation by local police, she lost control of the vehicle. The motorcycle veered off course, overturned, and collided with the rear of a parked car. Dimitriadou sustained fatal injuries, while the passenger was transported to a hospital for medical care.
A prominent member of the Gymnastic Club of Edessa since the age of five, Dimitriadou was a highly regarded athlete who had achieved national titles and excelled in the 400-meter category. Her death has caused widespread mourning within the Greek athletic community and her home region of Edessa. The Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS) and her club have issued statements expressing deep condolences to her family.
