Greek athletes achieve multiple gold medals across summer sports season

Greek sports have experienced a highly successful summer season across multiple disciplines. Notable achievements include the men's national water polo team winning its first gold medal at the World Cup in Sydney.

In rowing, Greek crews secured 11 medals across the U23 World Championships in Duisburg, Germany, and the European Rowing Championships in Varese, Italy. Athletics and swimming also saw success at European Championships in Paris and Birmingham, with gold medals earned by Miltos Tentoglou and Apostolos Christou, alongside silver medals from Emmanouil Karalis and Apostolos Siskos.

As the season progresses, gymnast Lefteris Petounias competes for a ninth gold medal in the rings at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships. Additionally, the Mediterranean Games are beginning in Taranto, Italy, featuring a large Greek delegation of 277 athletes.
