Greek athletes set record participation at European Championships in Birmingham

A record 60 Greek athletes will compete at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham from 10 to 16 August, the largest Greek delegation ever sent to the event. The team includes eight athletes from Panathinaikos and six athletes from the Chania‑based club GS "Eleftherios Venizelos", the highest representation in the history of each club at a European championship.

Panathinaikos athletes cover a range of events, such as Christos Roumtzios (110 m hurdles), Kostas Gennikis (shot put), Nikolaos Andrikopoulos (triple jump), Vasilis Myriantopoulos (200 m and 4 × 100 m relay), Giannis Voskopoulos (4 × 100 m relay), Dimitris Levantinos (400 m hurdles), Andreas Papastergiou (half‑marathon) and Georgia Despolari (800 m). GS "Eleftherios Venizelos" athletes include Dimitris Tsisos (pole vault), Christos Frantzeskakis and Michalis Anastasakis (hammer throw), Panagiota Dosi (high jump), Stamatia Scarveli (hammer throw) and Giannis Nifantopoulos (4 × 100 m relay). The athletes will compete in preliminary rounds, semifinals and finals according to the championship schedule.
