Emmanouil Karalis wins Diamond League pole vault title in Brussels
Emmanouil Karalis won his first Diamond League title in the men's pole vault at the Memorial Van Damme final in Brussels. After securing the victory with a jump of 5.92 meters, Karalis continued his performance to clear 6.12 meters on his third attempt, setting a new meeting record and surpassing the previous mark of 6.11 meters held by Armand Duplantis.
The competition was significantly impacted by the last-minute withdrawal of world record holder Armand Duplantis, who opted not to compete due to muscle tension experienced during warm-ups. Karalis's victory marks the eighth Diamond League title for Greece and makes him the second Greek male athlete to win the trophy, following Miltos Tentoglou in 2022.
Other notable results from the event included Busang Collen Kebinatshipi setting a new national record for Botswana in the 400m with a time of 43.40 seconds. In the men's long jump, Miltos Tentoglou secured second place with a jump of 8.40 meters.
