Greek athletes win five medals at European rowing championships in Italy

Greek rowers captured five medals at the European Rowing Championships in Varese, Italy, including a gold medal by Petros Gaidatzis in the lightweight single scull, two silver medals by women's crews, and two bronze medals in men's and women's single sculls.

In artistic swimming, the Alexandri sisters – Anna Maria, Irini and Vasiliki – returned to the Greek national team after more than a decade representing Austria. Their comeback was driven by Isidoros Koubelos, president of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, who negotiated their repatriation. The sisters contributed two gold medals for Greece at the European Championships, marking a symbolic boost for Greek sport.

Both achievements highlight a resurgence of Greek performance on the European stage across rowing and artistic swimming.
