Algeria: 10 dead in 11-vehicle collision in Tizi Ouzou

A major multi-vehicle collision in Tizi Ouzou, eastern Algeria, has resulted in at least 10 deaths and 10 injuries. The accident involved 11 vehicles, including a semi-trailer truck, on a national highway approximately 100 kilometers from the capital.

Algerian Civil Protection officials released visual evidence of the scene following the crash. This tragedy follows a similar incident in late July in Boumerdes province, where a bus rollover killed 28 people.

According to Algerian road safety authorities, human error—including speeding, negligence, and dangerous maneuvers—is responsible for over 96% of accidents in the country. In 2025, Algeria recorded 3,838 road fatalities and over 37,000 injuries.
