Greek authorities arrest Swedish national after major drug seizure

A 32-year-old Swedish national has been remanded in custody following a major drug seizure at Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport. The operation, led by the Patras Port Authority and the Hellenic Coast Guard, uncovered two separate shipments intended for the suspect.

The first shipment, arriving from Brazil in a wooden crate, contained 2,235 grams of cocaine hidden within a specially constructed compartment in the crate's floor. Following a controlled delivery authorized by the prosecutor, the suspect was arrested in Attica on October 14.

Simultaneously, authorities discovered a second package arriving from the United States. This shipment, contained in a paper box, held 5,317 grams of hydroponic cannabis, commonly known as skunk. Total seizures include over 2.2 kg of cocaine and over 5.3 kg of cannabis.
