Greek banks offer mortgage options for first homes

Greek banks are offering various mortgage options to assist households in purchasing their first homes. Key factors for potential buyers include the required down payment, borrowing costs, and repayment terms. Some programs allow for financing up to 90% of a property's commercial value.

Alpha Bank offers the ‘Alpha First Home’ program, which provides fixed interest rates for durations ranging from one to twenty years. Fixed rates start at 2.4% for the first year and 2.5% for the first three years. Alternatively, variable rates are linked to the quarterly Euribor with a margin between 1.80% and 2%. While the bank does not charge application examination fees, borrowers remain responsible for legal, technical, and registration expenses.

Eurobank also provides specialized first-home mortgage loans specifically for individuals and couples up to 50 years of age, with financing options reaching up to 90% of the property value.
