Greek banks provide aid to families of Tanagra pilots

The four systemic banks in Greece have announced financial support and debt cancellation for the families of the two pilots who died in an F-4 Phantom crash at Tanagra on September 5, 2026.

According to the Hellenic Banking Association, Alpha Bank, Eurobank, National Bank of Greece, and Piraeus Bank will each contribute equally to provide an immediate payment of 50,000 euros to each of the two families. This assistance is in addition to existing state support.

Furthermore, the banks have decided to fully cancel all mortgage loans, consumer loans, and credit card debts held by the spouses, parents, and dependents of the deceased pilots, identified as Wing Commander Ioannis Blesias and Flight Lieutenant Dimitris Petrou.
