Greek beach fees climb for Bulgarian tourists as nearby Bulgarian resorts also raise prices

In northern Greece, especially the Halkidiki region, beach bars have introduced mandatory minimum consumption charges starting at €30 per person, with umbrella‑and‑deckchair packages reaching up to €210 on the Voulagmeni beach near Athens. Free municipal beaches now only provide umbrellas without service, and all Greek ferry operators now accept electric vehicles only if the battery is charged to no more than 40% capacity.

Meanwhile, Romanians traveling to Bulgaria find that the once‑cheap Black Sea coast is now considerably more expensive. Parking fees at hotels cost €13‑15 per day, and beach equipment rentals range from €5 to €23 per set per day. Typical drinks and snacks cost €3‑4 each, adding roughly €100 to a typical seven‑night stay. Inflation, the shift to euro pricing and the leu’s depreciation have driven these hikes, though fuel and cigarettes remain cheaper than in Romania.
