Kyriakos Mitsotakis sets cabinet agenda on road safety, recovery fund and water strategy
On 30 July 2026 the Greek Cabinet met at 11:00 a.m. in the Maximos Mansion, chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Eight items were on the agenda.
The government presented a road‑safety initiative led by Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochiodis together with the Digital Governance, State and Infrastructure ministers. Papastavrou and Deputy Minister Nikos Tsáfo presented a draft law to incorporate EU Directive 2024/1711 on electricity‑market design. Justice Minister Giorgos Floridis and Deputy Giannis Bougas proposed transposing EU Directives 2024/1712 (human‑trafficking) and 2024/1203 (environmental protection) into Greek law. The cabinet also discussed the revision of the Unified Government Policy Plan 2026 and the creation of a Government Committee for nuclear energy.
Prime Minister Mitsotakis announced that Greece will receive its first Canadair firefighting aircraft in 2028 as part of the EU rescue fleet and warned that the anti‑fire period remains ongoing. A meeting with Bavarian Premier Markus Söder was scheduled for 17:00 at the same venue.
