Greek Catholic Church expands liturgy services and celebrates Ľutina pilgrimage

The Greek Catholic Church in Slovakia is expanding its liturgical services and celebrating significant religious milestones. Starting September 6, 2026, regular Holy Liturgies will be held every Sunday in Bratislava-Karlová Ves, Malacky, Zálesie, and Kvetoslavov, with additional services in Pezinok-Cajle every second Sunday of the month.

In Ľutina, near Sabinov, thousands of pilgrims are expected to gather on August 22 and 23 to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the apparition of Saint Nicholas. The event includes a rich spiritual program at the Minor Basilica of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God and on Mariánska hora. Metropolitan Jonáš Maxim will preside over several key liturgies, including a televised service on Saturday evening and a major Sunday celebration featuring the Metropolitan Choir Emanuel.
