Greek ceremonies honor mathematics students and Red Cross volunteers

On October 3, 2026, two separate award ceremonies were held in Greece to recognize achievement and service.

In Trikala, the Trikala Branch of the Hellenic Mathematical Society hosted an awards ceremony for students who excelled in mathematics competitions. The event included local officials, educators, and parents. During the ceremony, Sotirios Terzopoulos of the Hellenic Mathematical Society spoke on the importance of errors in the mathematical learning process, noting that mistakes help students understand their thinking and identify areas for improvement.

In Drama, the Hellenic Red Cross Regional Branch held a ceremony at the Drama Municipal Conservatory to honor new volunteers. The event celebrated those who completed their training and received certificates in various sectors of Red Cross action. Attendees included Deputy Foreign Minister Tasos Chatzivasileiou, Red Cross President Antonios Avgerinos, and Regional Governor of East Macedonia and Thrace Christodoulos Topsidis. Topsidis commended the volunteers for dedicating their time and energy to helping others during emergencies.
