Indra secures multi‑hundred‑million euro contract for air‑navigation systems at Crete’s new Heraklion airport

Indra Sistemas, together with the Greek partner ATESE, signed a contract to supply, install, integrate and commission the air‑traffic‑management and navigation systems for the new International Airport of Heraklion (Kastelli) on Crete. Reported contract values range from €85 million (without VAT) to €105.2 million including VAT, and the agreement runs for 27 months. The equipment package covers tower and approach control, primary and secondary radars, ADS‑B, voice communications, an Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A‑SMGCS), meteorological gear and cybersecurity solutions, meeting ICAO, EASA, SES and EUROCONTROL standards. The signing was witnessed by Greek Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas, Deputy Minister Nikos Takhiaou, General Secretary of Infrastructure Dimitris Anagnopoulos and Civil Aviation Service director George Vagenas. Construction of the airport is about 76 % complete, with a target to handle up to 10 million passengers annually by 2030 and to open in November 2028.
