A Red Code (full activation of the civil‑protection mechanism) was declared for the regions of Attica, Boeotia and Evia on 2 August 2026 because a very high fire‑risk level (category 4) was forecast for those areas. The government’s civil‑protection action plan includes preventive bans on vehicle traffic and visitor access to national forests, aerial surveillance and ground patrols by fire, police and military forces, and a public call to report any fire to 199 or 112.

Travel bans for pedestrians and vehicles were also imposed on 1 August 2026: in the Evros forest districts of Alexandroupoli, Soufli, Didymoteicho and Samothrace from 07:30 to 07:30 the next day, and in the Chalkidiki forest districts of Kassandra, Sithonia and Aristotelis from 08:00 to 20:00 on the same day.

A large wildfire in the Porto Germanou area of western Attica burned more than 20 houses and was driven by winds up to 7 Beaufort. Fire services remain on general alert, with continued aerial and ground patrols across the affected regions.
