Greek Coast Guard Minister Basileios Kikilias urges new officers to protect the nation
Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Vassilis Kikilias addressed the newly sworn officers of the Greek Coast Guard at a ceremony in the ministry. He emphasized the high responsibility of their mission, noting that “the homeland needs you, the Coast Guard needs you.”
Kikilias highlighted the importance of integrity, duty, and modern training in new technologies and security. He reminded the officers that their work safeguards Greece’s sea borders, protects sailors, travelers and tourists, watches over the islands, and enforces the Exclusive Economic Zone. He also praised the families of the officers and affirmed the nation’s pride in their service.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials, including the chief of the Coast Guard, senior admirals and the Archbishop of Acheloos, underscoring the ceremonial importance of the event for the maritime forces.
