Greek Communist Youth launches 52nd KNE Festival in Ierapetra

The 52nd Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) Festival, titled “Guide”, opened on Friday 24 July in the Minos park of Ierapetra, Crete. The opening featured a concert by singer Dimitris Lekkas followed by a political speech from Tatiana Gontika, a member of KNE’s regional office for Crete. The festival’s slogan, drawn from Bertolt Brecht’s lyrics, promotes the Communist Party of Greece’s (KKE) socialist programme and calls for a workers‑led society.

The event is part of a broader series of cultural and political activities that will continue with the 5th KKE‑KNE camp in Koutsounari on Saturday 25 July. Organisers stress that the festival aims to mobilise youth and the wider public around KKE’s policies on wealth redistribution, public ownership of production, and universal access to education, culture and leisure.
