Greek cuisine interest surges in the UK

Research from Ocado indicates a significant rise in interest in Greek cuisine among British consumers. Data shows that nearly one-third of people are consuming more Greek food than in previous years.

Specific search trends on the Ocado website highlight this surge, with searches for spanakopita increasing by 2,605 per cent and diced feta rising by 2,967 per cent year on year. Additionally, searches for Greek seasoning have jumped 1,903 per cent, while Greek flatbread searches have grown by 360 per cent over two years.

Drivers for this trend include the popularity of Greece as a holiday destination and a growing interest in the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet. Approximately half of those surveyed cited the reputation of Greek food for containing vegetables, pulses, fish, and olive oil as a primary motivation for eating more of it.
