Greek cultural festivals in Preveza and Kalamata celebrate tradition
The Association of North Epirotes of Preveza staged a multi‑regional cultural evening in the historic Androutsos Square, featuring traditional dances from Epirus, Macedonia, Thrace, the Cyclades and other Greek regions. The event was opened by Preveza mayor Nikos Georgakos, who praised the initiative as a vital link between generations and a safeguard of local heritage.
In Kalamata, the local Asia‑Minor Association revived the Klediá custom on 13 June, gathering participants for music, dancing, food and a fire‑walking ritual linked to the feast of Saint John the Baptist. Attendees of all ages took part, underscoring the role of the tradition in the town’s communal identity.
