Greece and Albania deepen defence ties, focus on cyber security
On 29 June 2026 Greek Defence Minister Nikos Dendias hosted Albanian Defence Minister Ermal Nufi at the Greek Ministry of Defence. The two ministers affirmed their intention to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation and explored joint projects in cyber security.
Dendias briefed his Albanian counterpart on the progress of Greece’s armed‑forces reform under the “Agenda 2030” plan. Senior senior officers from both sides—including the chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, the heads of the Army, Navy and Air Force, and senior defence‑industry officials—participated in the expanded talks. Albanian representatives included its ambassador to Greece, the cyber‑defence directorate chief, and senior defence staff.
The meeting also covered regional and international security issues, underscoring a shared strategic outlook between Athens and Tirana.
