Greek deputy minister calls for removal of Ilioupoli teen tragedy video

Deputy minister Paúlos Marínakis, speaking for the Greek government, urged the National Council for Radio and Television (ESR) and the judiciary to intervene and withdraw a video that shows the aftermath of a tragic incident in Ilioupoli, a suburb of Athens, where two 17‑year‑old girls were injured, one of them fatally.

He described the broadcast as “deeply problematic and dangerous” and said it shows “an absolute lack of respect for the families,” calling for the video’s immediate removal as a minimal sign of respect. Marínakis also expressed condolences to the families and wished a speedy recovery for the surviving girl.
