Greek Deputy Minister Nikos Papaioannou affirms 2026‑27 student transfer rules

The Greek Ministry of Education, represented by Deputy Minister Nikos Papaioannou, reminded Parliament that the framework for mutual student transfers for the 2026‑27 academic year remains unchanged. Transfers are permitted between students enrolled in the same semester and comparable departments, without income criteria, quotas, or merit‑point requirements.

The prohibition on transfers to or from universities located in the Attica and Thessaloniki regions stays in force to prevent further concentration of students. The policy also covers exception, social and special sibling transfers, and allows exception applications at any time during the year when serious, documented reasons such as health or family emergencies are presented.
