Greek Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos and Chamber President Giannis Bratakos pledge support for micro‑SMEs and
Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos met with Giannis Bratakos, president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to present a package aimed at strengthening micro‑ and small‑business enterprises ahead of the Thessaloniki International Fair. The discussion highlighted plans to boost productivity and competitiveness, create a stable investment climate, and improve access to financing tools, with the goal of generating more and better‑paid jobs.
The ministers also announced a series of consumer‑price measures. After a government deal with industry and supermarket representatives, prices of basic food, household and personal‑care items will be frozen over the summer and reduced by 5%‑20% starting 31 August. In parallel, a fuel‑subsidy scheme will provide an extra 10 cents per litre at the pump, plus 5 cents from refineries, effectively shielding consumers from a 15‑cent per litre increase. The minister warned that ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and the Russia‑Ukraine war could trigger stronger inflationary pressures in the coming winter.
