Greek economy faces series of credit rating reviews from September

The Greek economy is set to undergo a series of credit rating evaluations by major agencies starting in September. DBRS is scheduled to assess the country’s creditworthiness on September 4, followed by Moody’s and Scope on September 18.

Key focus areas for these agencies include investment levels, fiscal metrics, debt reduction speed, and economic growth. Analysts are also monitoring the progress of structural reforms and fiscal discipline amidst geopolitical uncertainties and energy market pressures.

A positive factor for the assessments is the upward revision of the 2026 primary surplus forecast to 3.2% of GDP, up from 2.8%, which supports prospects for faster debt reduction. The evaluation cycle will conclude with Standard & Poor’s on October 23 and Fitch on November 6.
