Greek Education Minister Athina Michailidou Pushes to Abolish Teacher Appointment List by July

Education Minister Athina Michailidou said the government will not exclude anyone who has worked in the teaching profession as it moves to scrap the "list of appointable teachers". She urged all parties – teachers' unions, parents and other stakeholders – to wait for the final proposal, which is expected to be presented by the end of July.

Michailidou noted that the issue has been debated for a decade and emphasized the need for a balanced solution that respects seniority while also creating opportunities for new entrants to the profession. The minister affirmed that dialogue will continue with educational organisations before a final decision is taken.
