Greek Epirus secures €19 million for rural road upgrades
The Epirus region of Greece will receive almost €19 million to implement 39 rural road projects across four prefectures. The funding, approved by General Secretary of Union Resources and Infrastructure Argyrí Zérva, aims to improve access to cultivated fields and livestock facilities, lower production costs, and strengthen infrastructure against climate challenges. The projects are part of the national P3‑73‑1 intervention, which has been expanded to €242 million for 446 works in 141 municipalities.
In a separate allocation, the regional authority approved €296,000 (excluding VAT) to urgently restore a 19‑kilometre stretch of provincial road from Rodavgi to Platanousa. The damaged 12.5 km segment lies in the Arta unit and 6.5 km in the Ioannina unit, with repairs needed after severe flooding last winter that hindered local travel and access to tourist sites such as the Zagori villages.
