Greek singer Akylas reflects on Eurovision 2026 final

Greek artist Akylas, who represented Greece with the song “Ferto” at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna, finished in 10th place. In interviews he described the experience as a "very difficult, high‑stress stage" and said he broke down in tears after leaving the stage, feeling the weight of the nation’s expectations.

He recounted a panic attack that struck him while speaking to cameras immediately after the results were announced, and explained that he felt compelled to apologise to the public for the outcome. In the green‑room, Akylas and his team noted that the jury scores seemed deliberately dramatic, joking that "they do it for the suspense" and recalling how cold they felt while waiting.

Akylas also spoke about personal matters, stating he admires his father despite his father's health problems and a difficult family background. He emphasized that the intense media attention after Eurovision left him feeling a sense of abandonment, but also highlighted his gratitude for the support from fans across Greece and beyond.
