Greek exports set to break record in 2026

Greek export volumes are projected to surpass €55 billion in 2026, exceeding the previous peak of €54.7 billion recorded in 2022. The forecast also anticipates a new high for non‑oil exports, overtaking the €36.92 billion level reached in the prior year.

The figures are based on data from ELSTAT and Eurostat processed by the Institute of Export Research and Studies (IEES) of the Hellenic Union of Enterprises (SEVE). The first five months of the year already show a total export value of €22.9 billion, a 13.5 % increase over the same period last year, while non‑oil exports rose 4.5 % to €16.4 billion and the trade deficit narrowed by 9 %.

SEVE President Themistoklis Sarassidis attributes the growth to continued strengthening of Greek manufacturing and an expanding production base, which has helped the country maintain export dynamism despite global geopolitical tensions and uncertainty stemming from U.S. trade policy. He cautions that if current momentum continues and no major external disruptions occur, 2026 could rank among the strongest export years in Greece’s recent history.
