Greek exports on track for historic record in 2024

Greek exports are on track to achieve a historic record, driven by significant growth across most sectors. In June, goods exports surged by 26.3%, reaching €5.0 billion. For the first half of the year, total exports reached €27.6 billion, marking a three-year high.

Alkiviadis Kalabokis, president of the Panhellenic Exporters Association, noted that the growth is structural rather than driven solely by energy prices. Excluding petroleum products, June exports rose 18.4%. The expansion is broad-based, with nine out of ten export sectors recording positive growth. Key contributors include petroleum and fuels, food, industrial products, chemicals, and machinery.

Food exports specifically showed strength, increasing 10% in the first half to €5.077 billion. While most sectors saw gains, oil exports declined by 18.5%, a trend attributed to falling international olive oil prices rather than a loss in market share or volume.
